These snails lead a balanced, mostly nocturnal lifestyle. Young individuals spend many hours in secluded, cozy corners, where they develop their delicate shell growth. Among the various species of giant snails you can find great gluttons, but not all species eat a lot. Young Achatina achatina sometimes have an appetite, and sometimes after taking a few bites they return to rest again. The snail eats as much food as it needs and cannot be overfed. Depending on the species, the age of the snail, the extent to which it is full from previous feeding, the break between meals can take up to several days. As they grow up, snails of this species become more interested in portion size and their surroundings.
